Payfirma has announced the release of a mobile payment app for BlackBerry users in Canada. Using this, businesses and consumers can accept credit card payments on their BlackBerry smartphones.

The account enables users to accept and process all sorts of credit card transactions on their BlackBerry devices. Although to fully utilize the app, they require a Payfirma merchant account.

Michael Gokturk, CEO and founder of Payfirma said, “Payfirma’s mission is to bring efficient payment technologies to all Canadian businesses, large and small. Now consumers and merchants can accept payment for goods and services on their Blackberries anywhere with a cellular or WIFI signal – thereby increasing their sales efficiencies and improving the overall checkout experience.”

To allow a transaction, users have to swipe or manually input a credit card. After this is authorized, the app provides an email receipt of the app to customers. The data of this entire transaction is alleged to be safe by Payfirma as it is encrypted and secured through PCI compliant facilities.

Payfirma’s next development, which appears to be similar to the Loop Mobile ZipCash service recently introduced in Mumbai, is NFC supported e-wallet service. Gokturk describes it as a mobile app which enables users to link their settled funds from the phone directly to an NFC (near-field communication) chip within the phone itself. These apps will follow Payfirma’s iPhone Virtual Point of Sale App, which was also released for Canada.

The Payfirma BlackBerry mobile payment app is available for free download from Blackberry App World or from Payfirma website.
