Samsung Galaxy Ace, Gio Last year, Samsung expanded its footprint in the mobile phone market with the introduction of the now popular Galaxy and Galaxy S series of smartphones. It recently announced to further stretch its Galaxy assortment with four new Android-powered handsets. Christened as the Samsung Galaxy Ace, Fit, Gio and mini, these models enhance the company’s portfolio with their unique features and abilities.

Touted to deliver comprehensive entertainment, these handsets will unlock doors to more than 100000 applications from the Android Market and Samsung Apps for users. The Galaxy mini has been sculpted to cater youngsters looking out for a functional and affordable smartphone. Stitched with a vibrant stripe on its sleeve, the device is outfitted with a 3MP camera and the Google voice actions feature. This offering runs on a 600MHz processor while delivering a socially connected experience to its owners.

Flaunting a 3.31-inch QVGA screen, the Samsung Galaxy Fit captures images with its 5MP built-in camera. To satiate the needs of professionals, the manufacturer has introduced an office viewer into the product. This facilitates users to organize and manage their worksheets on the go. It is also said to infuse an optimized surfing environment, unleashing a smooth web experience.

“Following the phenomenal success of the Galaxy S and the growing popularity of Android, we wanted to make the smartphone experience accessible to a wider audience through an extended portfolio. Like the mini, the Galaxy Ace too serves the needs of a younger population with early professionals being its main focus. Sporting a 3.5-inch HVGA display, this smartphone works on an 800MHz processor and has been implanted with a 5MP camera. The last product on the roster, Gio, derives its name from the Italian word for ‘jewel’. Offering a compact set of attributes, it has been embedded with a 3.2-inch HVGA display and a 3MP camera.

Allowing users to stay connected with their dear ones, these Froyo-enabled devices boast of the company’s swype technology rendering a seamless messaging experience. Customers can also yield maximum from the Wi-Fi connectivity and Social Hub unfurled by these smartphones. These integrations work together for enabling users to view their contacts, social networks, IM and email in a single-page layout.

The company has also disclosed that the Samsung Galaxy S series of smartphones now come powered with the Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS. Further, those who purchase a Samsung Galaxy S handset in the period from February 1, 2011 to March 31, 2011 can avail of a new free entertainment bundle. With this pack, buyers can download three films from the Samsung Movie store and six gaming titles from the house of Gameloft. Existing users of Samsung Galaxy S can upgrade their smartphone through the online video tutorials.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace, mini and Fit will be released in UK this March whereas the Gio has been scheduled for an April release. These new members of the Samsung Galaxy family will be showcased this month at the Mobile World Congress from February 14-17, 2011.
