Apple’s bid for GenAI integration was finally unveiled earlier this month in the form of Apple Intelligence and unsurprisingly, it looks like Google has started working on something along similar lines for its upcoming Pixel 9 handsets. Creative Assistant is apparently the moniker chosen for it.
Some digging into the Android 15 Beta 3 has led Android Authority to evidence regarding the existence of this functionality. And it’s hence being assumed that the feature will debut on the Pixel 9 range that’s supposed to come out later this year.
These references to the Creative Assistant have been spotted in the code of the Markup app that allows users to annotate photos and screenshots. They mention a “remix” button that will supposedly launch the Creative Assistant.
That’s the reason why Android Authority has come to the conclusion that it will be a feature that will create stickers using generative AI, allowing you to incorporate them into the photos or screenshots you’re editing. But that’s just one possible use case scenario; many more are possible.
For instance, integrating the Creative Assistant into the Gboard app could allow users to generate new emojis as well. This is especially possible, given how Gboard already has the ability to play around with stickers and emojis.
Both these features sound incredibly similar to the new Apple Intelligence functionalities that were unveiled for iOS 18, not too long ago.
Among them is the Image Playground, which allows users to create entirely new images based on prompts, suggested concepts, and even photos of real people. And then there’s Genmoji which can create emojis using text-based descriptions.
At the moment, it looks like we’ll only get official word on Google’s Creative Assistant during the unveiling of the Pixel 9 range that’s predicted to take place in October this year.
