iPhone 5 Rumor 01

For a change, we’re talking about the Apple iPhone 5 release date and not yet another leaked picture of the device. According to the latest scoop, the next generation Apple handset will be unveiled on September 21, 2012.

Going by the story running amok all over the web, the new iPhone may see an early unveiling, possibly in time for Christmas and other festivities. Guessing by the last Apple smartphone’s release date which was October 14 of 2011, the launch of the next iteration should fall sometime close to that.

The news was posted by Cult of Mac who dug up the rumor from a French blog called App4phone.fr. It appears that Cupertino has been collaborating with a few China-based accessory makers to whom the company revealed a few details including the launch date.

Over the past few days, a lot of reports covering the forthcoming gadget’s images and hardware components have been strewn across the internet. Some of the important leaks cover the replacement of the 30-pin dock connector and the inclusion of a high resolution screen. On the software front, iOS 6 and the new company-owned Maps app could be some of the features to watch out for.

However, it’s better to take this news with a pinch of salt, as we know the fruity giant may be in no haste to slide the curtains off its next big thing. Moreover, it’s not clear if the post on the French blog which is essentially the source of this news, is adequately backed up.

Meanwhile, fans can only wait for the official iPhone 5 launch details to drop by.
