After unleashing the durable and rugged Dura range, the manufacturer in question is all set to unveil its most recent addition, the Sprint Kyocera DuraPlus. Designed for military grade durability, the handset is expected to hit markets in the first half of this year.

Deemed to be suitable for rough working conditions where handling a delicately elegant handset might not seem ideal, the DuraPlus is tailored with several functions which should prove useful in such environments. The candy bar form factor features a flat bottom, making it easily accessible in freestanding positions as well as on vehicle mounts. Certified for military standard 810G, the phone is said to be resistant against shocks, dust, extreme temperatures, and also water to a certain extent.

“Kyocera DuraPlus is the ideal device for use in the construction, public safety and utility industries that demand devices that stand up to the toughest work conditions while delivering industry-leading push-to-talk capabilities,” conveyed David Owens, vice president of Product Development, Sprint on the official Sprint community blog. “This device is a dynamite addition to our Sprint Direct Connect portfolio, and we know our customers will appreciate the benefits of instant communication on a device that can withstand tough environments.”

Embedded with a 1650mAh battery, the handset offers talk time of up to 9.5 hours. But users who demand a little more may swap it for a 2300mAh one, which can be purchased separately. The device is also incorporated with an LED flashlight as well as a dedicated button for the same.

The Sprint Kyocera DuraPlus release date and price information has not been announced yet.
